CrowdStrike Acquires Browser Security Startup Seraphic for $400 Million

CrowdStrike has announced the acquisition of Seraphic Security, an Israeli browser security startup, in a deal valued at approximately $400 million, according to sources familiar with the transaction. The purchase price will be paid primarily in cash, with a portion in stock subject to vesting conditions.

Founded in 2020, Seraphic specializes in embedding security directly into the browser, enabling secure access to SaaS and private web applications without the complexity of VDI or VPN solutions. The platform supports all major browsers and popular desktop apps like Teams, Slack, Discord, and WhatsApp, delivering protection and detection capabilities that are invisible to end users.

Strategic Significance

CrowdStrike plans to integrate Seraphic’s browser-native security with its Falcon platform, combining endpoint telemetry, threat intelligence, and SGNL’s continuous authorization technology (acquired last week) to deliver a next-generation identity security strategy.

“Productivity requires flexibility and security; users want to work in their browser of choice. Seraphic delivers exactly that,” said George Kurtz, CEO and founder of CrowdStrike. “By decoupling security from the browser itself, we can turn any browser into a secure enterprise browser without slowing productivity.”

Seraphic’s Market Position

Seraphic operates in a competitive space alongside Israeli firms like Talon (acquired by Palo Alto Networks) and Island, but differentiates itself through a software component integrated directly into the browser, addressing industry pain points such as:

  • High deployment costs
  • Lengthy installation processes
  • Ongoing maintenance overhead

The company raised $29 million in Series A funding in January 2025, led by GreatPoint Ventures, with participation from CrowdStrike Falcon Fund, Planven, Cota Capital, and Storm Ventures. Total funding reached $37 million prior to acquisition.

Broader Acquisition Context

This marks CrowdStrike’s sixth acquisition in Israel and its first since 2024, following deals for Adaptive Shield ($300M), Flow Security ($200M), and Bionic ($350M). The move underscores CrowdStrike’s commitment to expanding its Zero Trust and identity security capabilities.

“The browser is where modern work happens,” said Ilan Yeshua, CEO and co-founder of Seraphic. “In joining CrowdStrike, we are bringing platform-level protection to the most important execution layer in the enterprise.”

Why This Matters

As enterprises increasingly rely on browsers for critical workflows, securing this layer is essential to prevent phishing, session hijacking, and SaaS exploitation. CrowdStrike’s acquisition positions it to deliver continuous Zero Trust enforcement without disrupting user experience—a key differentiator in the evolving cybersecurity landscape.
